Walzenhütte (HWN 050)

The Walzenhütte is a refuge on a Wegspinne. It is the hub of many hikes. From here you can reach Benneckenstein, Trautenstein, Rothesütte or Sophienhof. Nearby runs the railway line of the Harzquerbahn. With a bit of luck, you will meet one of the steamers. In the hut is the stamping point No. 50 of the Harzer hiking nobility.

The Walzenhütte (521 NHN) is located between Trautenstein and Benneckenstein in the Harzer Bach valley area.
A good starting point is the hikers' car park next to Café Dammbachtal on the outskirts of Trautenstein. As a day tour you can also visit the Walzenhütte (HWN 50) with the "Oberharzblick am Buchenberg" (HWN 47), the "Stierbergsteich" (HWN 48), the "Ziegenalm Sophienhof" (HWN 97) and the "Carlsturm (HWN 51)" combine to a nice round tour.

Unfortunately nothing special, clean shelter, motivates the children to hike, especially through the stamp hunt, and shortens the distances between the stamp points

There is not much to see here - this is just a crossing with a refuge.

Many connections in all directions. Obvious is a bridge over the route of the Harz Railway.

Can be stamped in passing

Ideal for a break in the middle of the forest. From here we hiked on to the Carlsturm.

The stamp is the "highlight" here. Otherwise, this is a hut with an overflowing rubbish bin surrounded by piles of wood in the forest.

Another point that you have to make to get all the stamps, the one in the hut is on the wall at the back. Since this hut is at a crossroads, you quickly go on to get the other stamps.

Note: Why this should be a highlight, I do not understand. There are nicer corners.

Is not a highlight, the bridge where the train goes underneath is the highlight of this place.

In the refuge there is stamp number 50 (roller hut) of the Harz hiking pin. We hid here from the rain for 45 minutes.
