🚂🌲 The South Harz Steam Locomotive Trail winds its way 42 kilometers through the South Harz Mountains, gaining 2,000 meters of elevation and connecting the village of Sophienhof with the town of Nordhausen. The trail follows the tracks of the Harz Narrow Gauge Railway and offers beautiful views of the Harz foothills. On beautiful, natural paths, you traverse picturesque landscapes, passing historic train stations, castle ruins, and many other sights. There are also numerous Harz Hiking Badge stamp points along the route!🌲🚂The trail leads you through the South Harz Nature Park.
