These provide the hiker with extensive background knowledge about the history and the present of the Harz mountain meadows, their peculiarities, their conservation, their protection, but also their endangerment. The Benneckenstein mountain meadow educational trail was created in 2011. Part of the route lies within the “Harzer Bachtäler” nature reserve. The educational trail is dominated by comparatively easy trails with typical, mostly gentle ascents and descents. The circular hike on the mountain meadow nature trail can be started at various points, e.g. at the Waldschlößchen or on the south-eastern outskirts of the town near the clarification ponds at Rappbode In winter you can also explore the route on a ski tour.
