The author of the sculpture, Kęstutis Balčiūnas, did not choose the form of a boy riding a bicycle and a puppy chasing him by chance - he wanted to humorously depict the urban development of Kaunas Old Town, revealing an episode in the history of Vilniaus Street, where this sculpture is located. The oldest street in Kaunas was part of the medieval road from Kaunas Castle to the capital. In the middle of the 19th century, when street redevelopment began, the route of Vilniaus Street was also adjusted, its eastern section being tilted northward towards Savanorių Avenue.
After the city was redeveloped, a residential building was built on the route of Vilniaus Street, and in 1985, during reconstruction, the old street route was marked with a paving of hewn stones, which seems to be sloping under this residential building.
The sculptural composition "Don't Stare!" depicts a child turned towards a dog. He drives along the old pavement of Vilnius Street and does not see the house that "unexpectedly sprouted" in front of him. The observer is left with the intrigue - will the boy notice the approaching wall of the house and be able to stop in time?
