The church rising in the ravine on the bank of the Nemunas is the oldest monument of Kaunas early Gothic (15th century). According to legend, the shrine was built by Vytautas the Great as a thank you to the Supreme, who successfully crossed the river and thus escaped after a lost battle. During the interwar period, the rector of the church, Fr. J. Tumas-Vaižgantas gently called her Vytautas, and the duke was honored as a monument in the church.

On the north facade wall - a table with markings. This is until the 20th century. a sign of the floods of the Nemunas in the middle of the 19th century. And there were a lot of them - inside the church they even rode a boat.
