Hiking

The Cathedral of Valencia houses the Puerta de la Almoina, the oldest and only purely Romanesque portal of the otherwise heavily Gothic church. Directly above the entrance, 14 stone heads cause a stir, which, according to legends, are historical city founders or generous sponsors from the 13th century. Thanks to its exciting details and the contrast to the rest of the church, this historic gateway is an absolute must-see on any stroll through the old town.

The portal displays typical features of Islamic architecture, with robust stone walls and a distinctive arch.
