The history of the fortified church in Müllenbach dates back to the 11th century. There is evidence that the area of the municipality of Marienheide was evangelised by monks from the St. Severinsstift in Cologne from about 1050. This church - one of the five "bonten Kerken" in Oberberg - is a place of worship and an irreplaceable cultural heritage.

On the walls of the old village church in Müllenbach very beautiful murals should be seen. Unfortunately, we were standing in front of a locked door, since the church is only open from the 1st of April to the 31st of October outside the church hours.

The church presented here is a fortified church, the foundation stone of which was probably laid in 1095. It consists of the fortified tower and a Romanesque nave, which is flanked by two aisles.

Particularly noteworthy are the baptismal font from the 12th century and a bell that is known to have been cast around 1050 and is one of the three oldest vibrating bells still in use in the Rhineland.
