Kaiserswerth is a district of Düsseldorf located on the Rhine and belonging to district 5. The former imperial city was incorporated in 1929. The original place name was “Suitbertuswerth”. The name Kaiserswerth comes from the Middle High German word werth for island. It therefore means imperial island or island of the emperor.
