Whether "Freedom Square" or "Independence Square" is translated correctly depends on the Estonian original name. It is certainly undisputed that the Estonians are very proud of their young state.

Over 100 years ago, the Estonians held their own in long battles against the Russian Empire during the October Revolution. In February 1918 the time had finally come: Estonia had won independence. February 24th is now celebrated annually as a national holiday.
