You can now cycle/walk along the new Weißeritz cycle path. (Between “Goldener Löwe” and Deubener Straße in Freital-Potschappel) Construction work began at the end of September 2024. It has turned out beautifully. Here you can take a leisurely walk along the Vereinigte Weißeritz and also take a rest on benches. There is also a weir here. I suspect that the construction work is not yet completely finished. History: The Weißeritz cycle path from Plauenschen Grund to Tharandt – part of the national cycle route D4 (Mittelland route) – has not been fully accessible for years. Between “Goldener Löwe” and Deubener Straße in Freital-Potschappel the route is interrupted due to the lack of structural requirements. This gap can now be closed. Last year, after long negotiations, the city succeeded in acquiring the property between the development and the Weißeritz.

A special feature of the project is the construction of a new pedestrian and cycle path bridge over the Wiederitz just before it flows into the Weißeritz.

In addition to the cycle path and the bridge, the construction project also envisages the construction of a small recreational area (rest area).
