The Rabenauer Grund is a hiking and walking path along the red Weißeritz. The idyllic nature along the Weißeritz is beautiful. There is a good place to stop for refreshments at the Rabenauer Mühle. Railway romantics will also get their money's worth here, as the Weißeritztalbahn runs through the Rabenauer Grund.

The riverbed of the Rote Weißeritz meanders through a picturesque landscape from Freital-Coßmannsdorf towards Rabenau and Seifersdorf. This V-shaped valley, which is up to 80 metres deep, is known far beyond the city as Rabenauer Grund and has inspired works of art by famous painters such as Johann Alexander Thiele, Caspar David Friedrich and Ludwig Richter.

The bizarre rock formations and landmarks, to which various legends and events are attributed, are particularly striking. Some of these are explained on waymarks and signs (for example Einsiedlerfelsen, Predigtstuhl, Nadelöhr, Goldstampfe, Nixentump, Pferdetump, Planwiese, Trompeterfelsen).
The valley has been a nature reserve since 1961 because of its flora and fauna, which include rare species.

Walk a tour and return by train. Very nice.
