In the middle of the 18th century, the Abbey of Affligem had a new parsonage built, after the destruction of the previous one in 1640. The opulent 'hooghuys' has a sandstone facade, decorated with bacon layers.
Remarkable are the three dormers and the bluestone door frame in the Louis XIV style. The symmetrical character of the building is also striking. This beautiful parsonage house housed my Uncle Pastor, Henri Aertbeliën from 1968 to 1995.

Two-story double house, built of brick and sandstone with a 17th-century core: facade on a beveled plinth with sandstone cladding, enlivened with string courses; preserved, richly decorated round-arched doorway in the side facade. The facade was modified in the late 18th century and during the 19th century; bluestone Louis XVI doorframe with profiled jambs and imposts, slightly curved lintel with a foliage motif in the keystone and spandrels.
