At the dune, you fly in slope lift – the wind hits the dune head-on and is deflected upwards. This gives you lift without any thermals, but only as long as you stay in the narrow "lift band" directly in front of the edge.
Close to the ground instead of high
You often fly just a few meters above sand and water – precision and feel for the updraft zone are crucial, small mistakes during turns towards the slope can quickly become critical.
