Looking to escape the hustle and bustle? Then the path along the Meuse River in Eijsden is exactly what you're looking for. You start in an old Limburg village with character: white facades, a castle, and views of Belgium. No tourist overload, just a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of space.

From the town center, you walk towards the river. That's where it all begins: the Meuse River on your left, tranquil nature on the other side. Soon you'll pass Eijsden Castle, a photo-worthy spot with a park, pond, and history. Then you delve into the Eijsder Beemden, a nature reserve that feels like an open-air chill zone. Grassy paths, orchards, ponds, and with a bit of luck, you might even spot wild horses or cattle.

What makes this route great:
• No asphalt, but a real off-road experience.
• Always a view of the Meuse River.
• Silence. Real silence.
• Spot wildlife (yes, that sounds silly, but if you suddenly see a beaver swimming, you'll think: okay, cool).

Along the way, there are benches with stunning views, perfect for a snack or a thermos of coffee. And when you return to Eijsden, simply grab a seat at a waterside terrace, for example at Aon 't Bat. Good coffee, better views.
