The Saint Stephen's Church of 's Herenelderen is a completely marlstone pseudo-basilica building built in the Maas Gothic style. The church has been a protected monument since 1935. It was founded in 1261 by the lords of Elderen, but the current church dates from the 15th century. The valuable interior includes a 16th-century wooden altarpiece. It was made in Antwerp and depicts various scenes from the life of Christ and the Old Testament. The statues were restored by Bessers in 1900.
