At the latest in Bulduri you should leave the train from Riga and walk from the station to the beach and then to Majori. In Bulduri you can admire many old villas and summer houses, partly built in Art Nouveau style. But also the new buildings are worth seeing, because in my opinion they are almost all tasteful.

Bulduri is a historic district of Jūrmala, about 20 kilometers from Riga, and has an exciting history that dates back to the 16th century. The name is derived from Johann Buldrink (also called Buldering), who received the property in 1516 from the Livonian Order Master Wolter von Plettenberg. In the 19th century, Bulduri became a popular seaside resort - one of the first summer resort areas on the Gulf of Riga. By 1875, about 400 villas had already been built here, and soon after, the first railway station opened.

If you walk through Bulduri today, you will come across numerous architectural witnesses that preserve the flair of bygone times. A striking sight is the Lutheran church, which was built in 1888-1889 according to the designs of the architect H. Hilbig. Not far from there is the oldest horticultural school in Latvia, founded in 1910 on the former estate. It is also home to a dendrological park - ideal for a little discovery tour through rare plants and historical garden landscapes.

Modern influences blend harmoniously with the past: since the 2000s, a shopping center and an aqua park have been located near the bridge over the Lielupe, expanding the range of activities for visitors.
