The current church was built in 2017/2018 on the site of a previous building. It is dedicated to Our Lady of Kazan.
The original church was built on July 18, 1894, financed by donations. The church was consecrated on July 23, 1896. The building remained undamaged during the First and Second World Wars. However, during the Soviet occupation of Latvia, the church was demolished in 1962.

The Orthodox Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Jūrmala is an impressive architectural highlight, built in 2013 on the foundations of an older, destroyed church from 1896.
