It is located within the municipality of Torredelcampo, Jaén, and is a fortification built by Muslims dating back to the 12th century. Although it is currently in a state of disrepair and beyond restoration, its deplorable state of preservation means the authorities may not consider rebuilding it.
Due to its location, it was involved in numerous disputes as a border between the Muslim and Christian kingdoms, witnessing power struggles between the two kingdoms.
