Since the mermaid is a hybrid creature, Michael Lauss has chosen two materials: Firstly, the base of the sculpture was carved from a 1.50 meter wide, long and deep granite stone showing a rock and the long fishtail of the mermaid. The body was made of oak wood molded with a chainsaw. The stone stands for eternal existence, while the wood will weather. Before Isa sits a swan behind which she hides, depending on the perspective of the beholder. Since its unveiling in April 2015, Isa is in the same place as her predecessor, but looks in contrast to the "old" mermaid on the Danube and "greets the shipping" (M.Lauss).

The three communities Thyrnau, Obernzell and Untergriesbach have chosen the legendary mermaid Isa as a symbol for tourism advertising, as the mermaid should draw the tourists as in the legend. They should thus spend time and again in these three communities their vacation.

The wood sculptor Edd Harrison from Wales modeled a total of four mermaid figures. Their locations are shortly after Passau near the Löwmühle to Jochenstein. According to legend, it is a sister of the Loreley, who either helped skipper from her castle on the journey or who succumbed to her temptations led to ruin.

The mermaid is a popular photo motif.
