The rock is located downstream from the Jochenstein power plant. In the 18th century a chapel was built there with the patron saint of the shipmen - St. John Nepomuk.

"The Jochenstein is a small rock island on German territory near the German-Austrian border. It is part of the pile, a range of quartz rocks in the Bavarian Forest that runs along the Danube edge through Lower Bavaria."

There is a bench and a relaxation swing. The entrance to the lock can be observed well from here.

The Jochenstein is a small rocky island on German territory near the German-Austrian border and rises about nine meters high out of the Danube. The rock is located in the upper reaches of the Danube at river kilometer 2202.72 and is 78 meters from the left (northern) and 187 meters from the right bank of the river. It is part of the Pfahl, a quartz rock formation in the Bavarian Forest that runs along the Danube rift through Lower Bavaria, and like the left (northern) bank of the Danube and the river to the left of the valley path, part of the Gottsdorf district of the municipality of Untergriesbach.
        (I "stole" that from Wikipedia ;-) )
