The history of Alachin as a settlement has been known since the first half of the 16th century. The Nikolsky Church in Alachin was built in 1807-1810 by retired second lieutenant of the Poltava Musketeer Regiment Gavriil Mikhailovich Babkin, a local landowner. In early 1807, his brother, captain of the Perm Musketeer Regiment Vasily Mikhailovich Babkin, was killed in one of the battles of the Russian army with the French troops. This happened, apparently, in the battle near the town of Preussisch-Eylai in Prussia. G. M. Babkin built a new church in memory of his brother who died in Germany, which is why the architecture of the church contains elements of Gothic.
