At the beginning of the 18th century, local landowner Pavel Stepanovich Yazykov decided to build an estate opposite the village of Krutoe, on the opposite bank of the Nerekhta. Several peasant families from other Yazykov estates were resettled to the newly built manor house, giving rise to the new settlement of Marinino. In the middle of the 18th century, Maryino was sold to the local nobles Vladykins, who already owned the village of Krutovo. The first wooden church stood until the end of the 18th century and, probably, by the 1790s had become dilapidated. The new owners of Maryino, brothers Stepan and Ivan Vladykin, decided to build a stone church together with the parishioners. In 1791, construction of the church began.
