Westerholt Castle is a moated castle in the Herten district of Westerholt on the edge of the Westerholter forest. The enclosed by forces plant was the headquarters of the Earl family of those of Westerholt, which was first mentioned in 1193 and later called by "Westerholt to Gysenberg". Therefore, together with Schloss Herten, it is one of the most important castles in the former Vest Recklinghausen. It now houses a hotel as well as cafe-restaurant. A large part of the former castle park is used by a golf club with 75 acres of 18-hole course, whose clubhouse can be found in the former outbuildings.

A visit is definitely worth it, you can sit in the castle courtyard and take a breather with coffee and cake.

A settlement like in the old days, simply very cozy. All houses have been completely renovated and are well preserved. You should see that.
