The name of the parish originates from a hermitage dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe, which was solemnly inaugurated in 1615. The coat of arms of the parish, which features a cork oak and an olive tree, symbolizes the main economic activities of the region, including cork extraction. The cult of Our Lady of Guadalupe is closely linked to the evangelization process of Mexico, making this place not only a point of religious interest but also cultural and historical.
