The stone, a menhir approximately 3.50 m high, is made of porphyritic granodiorite and, like many menhirs and most cylindrical limestone idols in the Alentejo, has one flat side and one curved side. It bears a báculo decoration, partially covered by an older, barely recognizable wavy line. The remains of the Almendres dolmen can also be found nearby.

The Stone Circle of Almendres is a spectacular collection of menhirs, consisting of 95 monoliths, arranged in two concentric circles. Some menhirs show schematic and geometric carvings. A little further on there is a menhir of 4 meters high.
