The Castelo Novo da Évora, founded by D. Manuel I, was built between 1518 and 1528 under the responsibility of the architect Diogo de Arruda. It was converted into a sober and important military building from 1736 onwards to house the Dragoon Regiment of Évora. It is one of the most important testimonies of the secular Baroque of the city.
