While St. Nicholas' Church in Eilenburg's city center was destroyed down to its outer walls at the end of the Second World War, St. Mary's Church was spared a total loss. But here too, American artillery fire had destroyed a pillar and parts of the vault. In addition, all of the windows were lost. The damage from the World War was repaired between 1946 and 1948.
