The main building was built around 1810 by the merchant Jonas G. W. Ekman. Stones from the nearby church ruins were used as building material. The classicist facade was added in the 19th century.
During archaeological research, several graves were discovered on the site. This may be evidence that the house is located on an old cemetery site.
Since 1986, the house has been owned by the Björkanderska housing association.
