A wonderful round in a zigzag course through lush green landscapes - interrupted by the straw bales in roll or cuboid form on freshly harvested barley fields ...
And in between there were the first really delicious ripe raspberries to nibble 😋

The morning was pretty wet, so we decided to go for a short hike. It was nice.
We observed a large swarm of starlings, which was frightened up from time to time and shortly afterwards disappeared invisibly into the meadow.
A stork occasionally shuttled back and forth between its lookout point on a mast and the nest, and complete families of cattle and horses grazed in a pasture, a rather unusual sight.

The Warpe Sculpture Park is art in public space.
To be more precise: Nine sculptures can be experienced and explored comfortably by bike on a circular route of a good 16 km. A very worthwhile exhibition that aims to stimulate discussion on the subject of art.
While the sculptures all stood still, the common buzzard and red kite we observed were not quite as calm. We must have startled the buzzard at the edge of the forest, he took refuge at another more distant lookout and then circled over us.
Shortly afterwards we discovered a red kite, which we could observe high in the sky for a long time. And then suddenly he was very close above us and showed us flying tricks ...

From a short walk into the village with a visit to the museum, we made a spontaneous lap around the Weyerberg and enjoyed the great sunny weather after the gray, rainy morning. ☀️

Today the focus was on art and culture:
We visited the "Great Worpswede Art Show". There you can see and experience some important works by the old Worpswede painters together with contemporary art. The museum comes highly recommended!
Our way also led us to the Weyerberg.
On its western slope is the Lower Saxony stone created by the architect Bernhard Hoetger as a memorial to the soldiers who fell in World War I. He looked very bleak and gave the impression that he was about to fall over. The construction fences on the sides and on the back, plus many remnants of drinking bouts, do not really upgrade the building ...
Pity! This work of art also deserves to be preserved.
And well, the necessary visits to Rossmann and Aldi were not cultural highlights, but in the summer heat the shops offered a pleasant cooling off ...

Our bike tour took us to the Teufelsmoor northwest of Worpswede.Several times on our way we crossed the Hamme and the Beek and drove along wet meadows and swamp forests, renatured moors and clearly recognizable former peat extraction areas.
(NSG Neuenfelde, NSG Pennigbütteler Moor, NSG Moor near Niedersandhausen, Hamberger Moor, Verlüßmoor, Günnemoor)
It was a great and cozy round with small side trips, a few breaks and a lot of time for observing flora and fauna.
I was particularly fascinated by the Hamberger Moor with its huge white carpet of cotton grass and the "swarms" of dragonflies on the shores of the lake.
