The Catholic Marienkirche in Eutin, built in 1889 and surviving both world wars unscathed, was completely rebuilt on the inside following the decisions of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965). Among other things, the altar barriers (communion pews) were removed and the "people's altar" now faced the congregation, so that the priest now faces the altar and the audience.
Three bells (tuned to the tones G, Bb and C) were hung up in 1911. All three were melted down during the First World War. Thanks to the financial help of the Stolberg family, who lived in Eutin, the missing bells were re-cast in 1926 by the Otto bell foundry in Hemelingen near Bremen In the Second World War, two bells were melted down again, only the B bell survived. In 1962, the new C and G bells could be hung back into the bell tower of the Marienkirche in Eutin.

Built in 1889, the Catholic Church of St. Mary in Eutin, which survived both World Wars unscathed, was completely rebuilt according to the decisions of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965). So u. a. the altar barriers (communion benches) removed and the "people altar" showed from now on to the community, so that the priest is now the altar and the audience.

Three bells (tuned in tones G, B and C) were hung in 1911. All three were melted down during World War I. Thanks to the financial help of the Stolberg family living in Eutin, in 1926 the missing bells from the bell foundry Otto in Hemelingen near Bremen were re-cast In the Second World War, two bells were melted down again, only the B-bell remained intact, and in 1962 the new C and G bells could be hung in the bell tower of St. Mary's Church in Eutin, completing the bells of St. Mary's.

On a clear day you have a wonderful view, at the box office you can even borrow binoculars for free - great service.
