It is not too easy to find a spot to spend the night in this area – at least if you are hiking with an inflatable sleeping pad. For miles, the ground is covered with tiny spiky plants that poked through our groundsheet, the tent floor and a thin sitting pad. This was the only spot that was free of this vicious plant. You also might be lucky to observe feral horses in this area.
