This gem is a detached eclectic double house, which was built in 1888 as a country residence and hunting pavilion for the Caron family from Turnhout. The family acquired this domain after the French Revolution.
The popular name 'Burcht' refers to the former motte castle as an upper court. From 1155, the presbytery of the Norbertine fathers from the Sint Michielsabdij in Antwerp stood on the lower court with its ring moat. In 1990 the building was sold to the municipality. from November 2001 this building functions as Heemhuis for the Marcblas local history circle.
