    Belvedere Landscape Park in Cologne

"A landscape park in the spirit of Adenauer. Local residents and committed Cologne residents have formed a circle of friends to complete Konrad Adenauer's (1876-1967) plans to design the green belt.
The area lies between the Cologne-Aachen railway line in the south and Freimersdorfer Weg in the north. To the west, the area is bordered by the A1 motorway and to the east by the military ring road. In the middle of the park is the Vogelsang estate, which gave its name to today's Cologne-Vogelsang district in 1931. The park itself is part of the outer green belt, its area is shared by the three Cologne districts of Bocklemünd/Mengenich, Widdersdorf and Müngersdorf.

The station used to be the terminus of the 7-kilometer-long line that opened in 1839. Railway line between Cologne train station at the Türmchen to Müngersdorf. Belvedere means something like "beautiful view" and comes from the Italian bel / bello (beautiful) and vedere (to see).
The entire park is designed according to this motto. The footpaths and cycle paths unexpectedly bend around corners, disappear into small groups of trees or appear behind an opaque hedge, thus offering visitors new views again and again. Several observation towers are intended to encourage visitors to leave their usual perspective and take in a new view..."
