Since summer 2001, a disease of the beech tree has been occurring in the German-Luxembourg-Belgian border region, which is also known as beech complex disease due to the large number of symptoms involved.
    Other terms: beech bark necrosis
Pathological mucus discharge on beech trees

Since summer 2000, a disease of the common beech (Fagus silvatica) has been occurring in Rhineland-Palatinate (Eifel and western part of the Hunsrück), Luxembourg (Ösling and Gutland), Belgium (Ardennes and Gaume) and parts of France (Moselle) and North Rhine-Westphalia (North Eifel and Sauerland). The symptoms partially correspond to a disease first described by ROBERT HARTIG in 1878, which in German-speaking countries is known as beech bark necrosis, beech bark necrosis.
