Today's Protestant town church emerged from the chapel of the Neviges farm of the Lords of Hardenberg, mentioned in 1220. In 1391 it was mentioned in documents as a parish church dedicated to Saint Margaret. In 1572 the Reformation was introduced at the church. The oldest part of the church is the Gothic choir from the 15th century with a 5/8 end. In 1697 a new west tower was added to the church and between 1740 and 1746 the medieval nave was replaced by a new building in Gothic style with a wooden barrel vault and three two-part windows on each of the long sides. In 2013 a fundamental renovation of the church began.

The town church is located in the heart of Neviges' old town on the church square, surrounded by beautiful historic half-timbered houses. There is evidence of a church in Neviges as early as 1220. In 1571, the Protestant Reformed service was introduced in the church.

The cute little church square is pretty hidden in the middle of Neviges, surrounded by cute half-timbered houses.
