Best Hikes to Wenigenburg Ruins

Tips

  • The Little Castle was built in the 12th century as a bailey on the "few" or "smaller" mountain, the second volcanic vent. The castle's "little sister" was first mentioned in a document in 1248. For a long time, the Little Castle served as the seat of several Mainz Burgmannen families. In 1491 it was first referred to as a ruin.
