In the 18th century, the mill was the Würschweiler Mahlmühl and belonged to the Würschweiler Abbey (near Homburg in Saarland). In 1795, the mill and adjacent fields were purchased by the Darmstadt family. In 1812, the family tore down the old mill and built a new one on the property. Since then, it has been called the Darmstadtmühle (source: regionalgeschichte.net, From Past Times)
