The Church of Saints Simon and Jude has roots that go back to 1192, when it was first built as a small oratory of the Vallombrosians. Over the years, the church has witnessed dramatic events and artistic moments. In 1309, for example, it was the scene of the murder of Cialdino degli Ughi, a white Guelph, by his black Guelph opponents.
Today, the church is a point of reference for the Ukrainian community in Florence.
