The historic sack station with a parking lot is your starting point for hikes, bike and mountain bike tours!

On October 14, 1888, Kranichfeld station was officially opened. The local construction company Emil Schönau had been commissioned with the construction of the building. The result was initially a two-story reception building, a goods shed, ramps and a small engine shed. At first, traffic did not develop as planned, so savings became necessary. One measure was that Kranichfeld was occupied from May 1893 to November 1897 with the wife of the railway master instead of the station master. From around 1900, railroad rolling stock companies were responsible for the loading and unloading of cargo on the road from and to the customers. In 1934, the half-timbered locomotive shed dating back to 1888 was replaced by a considerably longer, massive new building. Its length was 48 meters.
