Of pithead I, built in 1924 and the first to be demolished and disappeared after the mine closed in 1992, only this memorial plaque remains. If you don't know about it, you'll easily miss it, because it's nothing more than a manhole cover in the middle of the parking lot, with an inscription referring to the proud giant that once stood here. Shaft I had a diameter of 5.1 meters and a depth of 828 meters.
