On a steep cemetery hill surrounded by only a few houses stands the stately St. Mary's Church in Esgrus, whose massive tower can be seen from afar. At the end of the 12th century it was built as a Romanesque field stone building consisting of a nave and a retracted square choir.

Nice church with a really "nice" cemetery. Sounds strange when you call a cemetery "beautiful" but for my taste it applies to this one. You almost want to have a picnic here :-) This time we couldn't get into the church because it was locked. But we will try again. So if you are going fishing in this corner you should at least take a look at this beautiful area.

There are many Romanesque churches to be found in fishing. The Esgrus Church is one of them!
