The Antrift Dam is located in a beautiful forest and meadow environment. The southern part of the lake belongs to the urban area Alsfeld-Angenrod, the northern part with the dam to the municipality Antrifttal-Seibelsdorf. The Antrift Dam, officially inaugurated on March 13, 1981, has a water surface of 31 ha and serves both flood protection and ecology as well as recreation. The nature reserve, in which the reservoir is located, is a paradise for those seeking peace, whether hikers or "Petri disciples" - the lake is considered very rich in fish. Around the dam, a water course gives information about the local flora and fauna.
