As the only one of the numerous wall and gate towers of the old city fortifications still preserved. Round tower with cone and crenellated crown, 27 meters high, built in 1386. It was only accessible from the former city wall and there was also a prisoner's dungeon on the ground floor. The Leonhardsturm is popularly known as the “Stork's Nest” and was restored in 1986.

On the southern edge of the historic old town, the Leonardsturm rises in an effective urban planning manner, which stood next to the former Fuldertor in front of the city wall in a corner of the moat. The preserved stone wall is broken by a few light hatches, a door with a pointed arch opened the way to the city wall. The upper end of the tower is a flat stone cone and a parapet reinforced with battlements. An inscription dates the building to the year 1386. The tower was used for defense purposes, the dungeon was housed on the ground floor, accessible only from the false ceiling.
