Marienplatz is a small green space from the late 19th century in the middle of Münster's city center. It is named after the 15-meter-high votive column made of dark red granite on which the Madonna and Child stand. It is a replica of the Marian column from the 17th century that stands in front of Munich City Hall. The flowerbeds are planted with ivy, rhododendrons and large trees and surrounded by cast-iron fences. In the middle there is a small square with benches. The complex is located on the Ludgeristraße pedestrian zone, right next to the Ludgeri Church. The south and west sides are bordered by streets.
