The “owner of the fountain” that gives its name to the town was Doña Urraca, wife of Alfonso I the Battler, and also to the castle, although it appears in more references as Torre de los Piquillos, due to the somewhat acceptable state of the keep. The Plaza de la Constitución is an urban space representative of the town on the Tajo, it has facades with shields, stately homes and the Clock Tower, an icon of Fuentidueña, with the oldest clock mechanism in the Community of Madrid. At the arch of the tower begins the Calle Mayor towards the Baroque church of San Andrés and behind it appears the Fuente de la Dueña, with brackish water and not recommended for drinking. On the Tajo River, on the way to the Alarilla hermitage, there are beautiful grassy beaches, riverside trees, pleasant river walks and there is the historic crossing of the Iron Bridge, of striking red colour and a unique construction designed in the 19th century.
