"The former Erin mine was located in Castrop-Rauxel. Shafts 1 and 2 were close to the city center, shaft 3 in the Schwerin district.

This mining official's house was built next to shaft 3 of the former Erin mine in 1902. At that time, the mine was owned by the Gelsenkirchen mining association. Due to its size and architecture, it has a very representative character and was a model example of upscale mining housing. Just like the hammerhead tower built later above shaft 3, the mining official's house is well preserved and is used as a residential building today."
