This miners' house was built in 1902 next to shaft 3 of the former Erin colliery. At that time the colliery was owned by the Gelsenkirchen Mining Association. Due to its size and architecture, it has a very representative character and was a prime example of upscale colliery housing. Just like the hammerhead tower built later above shaft 3, the mining officials' house is well preserved and is now used as a residential building.
