In the greenery of Livorno, Villa Mimbelli hides stories and art within its walls. Built by the will of the merchant Francesco Mimbelli and Enrichetta Rodocanacchi, this nineteenth-century residence was designed by Vincenzo Micheli between 1865 and 1875.

Already inhabited since 1868, it has undergone extensions and additions over time (such as the grain warehouse) and today, despite the damage of the Second World War, it stands perfectly restored.

The facade of the villa, embellished with masks and floral decorations, conceals fascinating interiors. Among these, the "Sala Moresca" stands out, a tribute to the oriental style with its stuccos and bright colors. On the ground floor, large arches introduce spaces such as the dining room and the living room, enriched with stuccos and frescoes by Annibale Gatti. A monumental staircase in glazed ceramic leads to the upper floors, where the private apartments were once located.

The park surrounding Villa Mimbelli is a small botanical treasure chest, with exotic species including the Canary Island Palm. Its attractions also include a chapel and an open-air theater from the 20th century, recently renovated.

The villa hides an artistic treasure: the Giovanni Fattori Civic Museum. Since 1994 it has opened its doors to the "Giovanni Fattori" Civic Museum, paying homage to the painter and the works of Macchiaioli and post-Macchiaioli artists. Within its walls, visitors can admire not only the paintings of Giovanni Fattori, but also the creations of other artists such as Enrico Pollastrini and Guglielmo Micheli, without forgetting a painting attributed to Amedeo Modigliani.

The museum is spread over several floors: on the ground floor, in addition to the ticket office, you can lose yourself among architecturally valuable rooms, such as the Sala Rossa with its frescoes, and the Sala Pollastrini, dedicated entirely to Fattori's master. On the first floor, there are rooms dedicated to different artists, such as Ulvi Liegi, and the Hall of Mirrors, which houses the frescoes by Annibale Gatti inspired by Italian literature.

A place that is not only a journey through the history of art, but also an immersion in rooms that tell the style and taste of a bygone era.
