Betancuria was founded in 1404 and served as the island's capital from then until 1834. This picturesque town is surrounded by mountains, nestled in a valley in the interior of Fuerteventura, along the wonderful FV-30 mountain road. Beautiful white houses, several great restaurants and bars, and the Church of Santa Maria de Betancuria make for a pleasant stay. It's an absolute must-see when visiting the island.

The old capital Betancuria lies in the middle of a picturesque high valley with mountains up to 700 meters high. White houses, lots of palm trees and a very special idyllic tranquility characterize the beautiful town on Fuerteventura. Discover Betancuria on a short walk and enjoy the beauty of the place and the backdrop of the surrounding mountains. The beautiful little church of Betancuria is always worth a visit - the numerous cafes and restaurants in the historic town are ideal for taking a break or two.
