The Roland figure from 1730 is located to the right of the Hotel Ratskeller. Rolande are symbolic of the autonomy of a city with market rights and its own jurisdiction. Neustadt was first mentioned in documents in 1372. The Originalroland was destroyed in a city fire in 1678.
