"The date of founding the Servite or Marienknecht monastery dates back to 1295.
Since 1520/21 friends of the humanistic studies from Nordhausen have gathered around the learned Prior Johannes Huter in the Marienknecht cloister Himmelgarten. Namely Lorenz Süße from Stolberg, the chaplain Tileman Platner and his friend Johannes Spangenberg, rector of the Stolberg Latin School and preacher, as well as the Stolberg captain Wolf von Rabyl. Here, the ideas of Luther found rapid entrance. The important library of the monastery, the only preserved library of all Nordhäuser monasteries, was brought to Nordhausen in 1525 and transferred in 1552 by council decision in the church of St. Blasii. After the secularization of the monastery, the business continued as a good business. "
